Privacy policy

Updated 21 October 2026. This policy covers the Al-Quran app for Android (package dev.dwirandyh.alquran) and this website.

Who we are

Al-Quran is published by Dwi Randy Herdinanto. Questions about this policy go to dwirandyherdinanto@gmail.com.

What stays on your phone

The app is built to work without an account. These things are stored only on the device, so reading still works offline:

Clearing the app’s storage, or uninstalling it, removes that copy. We do not run a server that keeps a copy of it.

Location

The app asks for approximate and precise location so it can calculate prayer times and the qibla direction on the phone itself, using Kemenag-style parameters. Coordinates are rounded and stored on the device. They are not uploaded, not included in Google Drive sync, and not sent to us.

You can refuse the permission and pick a city instead. Prayer times are calculated estimates. Where they differ from your local mosque, follow the local timetable.

Optional Google Drive sync

If you choose Connect Google Drive in Settings, the app stores a copy of your bookmarks, notes, reading history, daily goal, khatam plan, memorisation, dzikir counts and reading preferences. The file lives in Drive’s private app folder, not in the My Drive you browse. Only this app can read it, using your Google account.

To show which account is connected, the app reads the email address of that Google account and keeps it on the device. We do not receive the email, and we do not receive your Drive file.

Disconnecting stops sync on that device. The Drive copy remains until you remove Al-Quran’s access from your Google Account.

What leaves the phone

A few features talk to other services. Those requests carry ordinary technical data such as your IP address:

Fonts and the Uthmani text that ships with the app do not need a network connection.

Purchases

Plus is a monthly or yearly subscription, with a 7-day trial on a first subscription when Google Play offers it, or a one-time lifetime purchase. The price shown before you confirm is the price Google Play charges. A subscription renews until you cancel it in Google Play. The app stores the Plus status on the device so it still works offline. Refunds follow Google Play’s policy.

No ads and no analytics

The app does not show advertising and does not include an analytics or advertising-identifier SDK. We do not sell personal information. We do not use the data on your phone to build an advertising profile.

Children

Al-Quran is a general-audience app. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Reading does not require an account.

This website

quran.dwirandyh.dev is a static page. It does not ask you to create an account, and it does not set its own analytics cookies. The host and your browser still exchange the usual connection data, such as IP address, that any HTTPS site needs in order to answer the request.

How to remove your data

If something is still unclear, write to dwirandyherdinanto@gmail.com.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated date at the top of this page will change. The copy inside the app should match this page. For the Play listing, this URL is the policy that applies.
